13. Rotary Park Landing
Front Street, Gagetown

Some of New Brunswick’s best birding opportunities are in the Gagetown area. The St. John River provides habitat for species rarely seen elsewhere in the province.  A significant colony of Black Terns is found here and Ospreys, Bald Eagles and Great Blue Herons are abundant.  The hinterland is home for a splendid variety of forest songbirds. Woodland habitat supports more than twenty-seven species of warblers, and the marshes provide homes for Bitterns, Soras, Pied-billed Grebes and Virginia Rails. Altogether, more than 260 species have been identified within a fifteen kilometre radius of Gagetown, including such local rarities as the Glossy Ibis, Eurasian Wigeon and Wilson’s Phalarope.
